A real masterpiece from the grunge area.

This was my favorite album in college, and now I can learn guitar parts. I think that this tab book is about 95% accurate, but a great guide.

Ordered this used,as it was on my son's wish list, and was only used copies were available. It was in the condition described and my son is very happy with it.

Very happy

This is one of my favorite so of course I was happy when this book came out. But the tabs are (sometimes very) inaccurate, particularly in giving chord voicings which is an integral part of the sound. If you can, you're better off if you also track down Corgan's guitar magazine interviews from this period. They have Corgan's own instructions which of course are much more accurate.

This book is great fun for somebody who doesn't mind an inaccurate tab. I, for one, am pretty picky and like to have an accurate tab- so I was a bit disappointed. But if you are good at learning songs based on ear, this tab book can help you learn the fundamentals of the song, while your ear can correct the bits in the tab book that are incorrect. Either way, I would definitely recommend it to a player anywhere from a beginner to an advanced. Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins guitarist & lead vocal) is an excellent guitarist with a wide range of playing, so all skill levels would have a blast learning these songs. I would better recommend buying the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tab book (it is 100% accurate).

This was also my first. It is a great book to learn from. I gained more knowledge from this book than I ever could have from a teacher. It covers different styles from textured melodies (Soma) to all out rock (Geek U.S.A - wanna learn a pentaconic scale?). Aside from the much lauded teaching abilities, this book faithfully reproduces every song from the album for a live performance of 2-4 guitars. It is wonderful. Get this and the album for your son or daughter that are just starting to get into playing music. The musical score included with the tabs also makes for a fun time with a piano and other instruments the book wasn't intended for.

About the Author

Henry M. Wellman is Research Professor at the Center for Human Growth and Development and Harold W. Stevenson Collegiate Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan. He has written more than 100 research articles and several books including The Child's Theory of Mind (1990). He is a past-president of the Cognitive Development Society, a recipient of an NIH MERIT Award, and the 2012 recipient of the American Psychological Association's G. Stanley Hall Award. He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife Karen Lind and has two sons, Ned and Daniel.
